Those who are subjected to violence, threats of violence, control, abuse or harassment in the family (or in respect of a former partner) are entitled to ask the courts to protect them. This can lead to non-molestation (anti-harassment) orders and orders regulating who can live in the family home. Such orders can also have implications for arrangements for children.

In these circumstances, it is often important to seek the involvement of the court straight away.
